Discount TTC Metropasses

CESAR, in collaboration with the RSU, brings students, faculty and staff at Ryerson more affordable TTC travel through the Discount TTC Pass. The Discount TTC Pass is sold from the Member Services Office (Student Centre Lobby, 55 Gould Street).

The Discount TTC Pass is available to:

  • All CESAR Members -  continuing education, distance education, and part-time degree students
  • All Ryerson Students' Union Members
  • Ryerson University Staff and Faculty
CESAR members must present their Ryerson ONECard, otherwise a current print out of their class schedule for the term or a registration form accompanied with a valid piece of government issued photo ID.

How much is the Pass?

The monthly Pass is a discounted savings from the usual adult Metropass. It is also cheaper than the Metropass Discount Program and you don't have to sign up on a 12 month plan!

The current cost of a monthly pass is $107.00 (cash and debit only), saving students $13!

When can I purchase the pass?

You can purchase the Discount TTC Pass only during certain times of the month.

The pass is available 10 before and 10 days after the start of the month, unless it sells out. For example, an October Metropass will be available between September 20th and October 10th.

The Students' Union encourages you to beat the line up around the end of the month by coming early!

Federal Tax Credit Information

Effective January 2008, a signature block will be included on the back of the TTC pass.

To claim the federal transit tax credit, the pass must be signed by the claimant. Please note that the signature requirement has no impact on the transferability of the pass.

Additional information on how to claim the tax credit for public transit passes: See the Canada Revenue Agency website www.cra-arc.gc.ca.

Fair Student Fares Campaign

In the fall, students across the GTA successfully lobbied the TTC Commission and won a STUDENT TTC PASS, saving students $22 on a monthly pass.

The program will start on September 2010 and will be accessible by full-time and part-time undergraduate, full-time and part-time graduate students.

CESAR is still negotiating and fighting to get Continuing Education students the same benefits.
