GREEN SHIELD ID CARD

Your Green Shield ID Number consists of:

The letters CSR, plus your Student Number, in addition to -00.

For example: CSR 999999999 -00

You may pick up their Green Shield ID Card at the Member Services Office in the Student Centre Lobby (55 Gould Street), or at the CESAR Office, on the third floor of the Student Centre. You can also download your Green Shield ID card HERE.

TEMPORARY INACTIVE PERIOD

First time users of the plan and first year students are subject to a temporary inactive period for the first two months of the benefit year, starting in the term in which they first enroll. New Students are still covered during the inactive period.

Using your plan during the inactive period? No problem!

Save all original receipts from services used during the inactive period and submit them for reimbursement as soon as the inactive period is over.

SUBMITTING A CLAIM

DIRECT BILLING:

By using your Green Shield ID card, the service provider (e.g.: Dental Office or Pharmacy) may submit claims on your behalf at the time you pay for the service, instantly. Your Green Shield ID Number, will be used to look up your coverage, after which you will only have to pay the uncovered remaining balance at the counter.

ONLINE:

If you paid your expense in full, you can submit your claim online through Green Shield Canada’s website. You must register for Plan Member Online Services at www.greenshield.ca to submit your receipts online. For faster processing, input your banking information to receive your payment via direct deposit, in just 24 hours.

MANUALLY:

If you’d like to submit paper claims, you have the option to do so by taking the following steps below.

To submit your receipts manually, you need:

  1. Your Green Shield ID Number
  2. All original itemized paid receipts
  3. Medical referral or Doctor’s note with first claim if required
  4. To fill out a claim form, which you can access here. To submit dental claims, use the dental claim form.

CESAR provides you with printed claims forms, along with one-on-one assistance in filling out your forms. As an added service, CESAR will mail your forms free of charge to Green Shield.

Processing Times: Claims take approximately two weeks to process, which includes the time to mail the reimbursement cheque to your address.

Direct Deposit: Students must register online at greenshield.ca, provide their banking information if they wish to use this option.

Status of Claim: Students may call 1-888-711-1119 (toll free) or 519-739-1133 for current information on the status of their submitted claim.

Claim Submission deadline: Claims must be received by Green Shield Canada within 12 months of the service date, in order to be eligible for reimbursement on the expenses paid.
